THE BOOK
The Unfurling of Narah Valenska is the story of my life
since encountering Steven Charles
Dorber, Jr. in October 2008 after 20 years of not seeing one another since
our having graduated from high school. It covers the time that led to the
18 months we spent together before he passed on from cancer on April 19,
2010 in general and, in full detail (texts, e-mails, letters, calls), those
18 GLORIOUS months, which, in
all their joy AND despair, led me to a real, true relationship with God and
the real, true me and during which he taught me about, and filled me with,
real life and love.

My name is Narah
Valenska. I am not Russian or Polish or anything like that. Valenska
was actually my middle name at birth but I adopted it legally as my
last name after getting divorced.
I am actually
Puertorrican, having been born in the Caribbean island in October 1971.
That makes me 38 right now. I moved to the United States with my 6
siblings (2 older brothers, 2 older sisters, and 2 younger
sisters) and my parents in the summer of 1982 when I was 10. I have
lived in Florida ever since.
For as long as I can
remember, from the time I was a little kid, I felt a special love for
people and for life which I cannot explain other than that’s what God
put in my heart. A not-so-idyllic childhood only deepened that feeling
instead of dampen it. It also led to writing in my teen years which led
to my knowing that’s what I was supposed to do with my life.
Many instances during
my life have also had me discover I have the gift of speaking from the
heart. Still, I’ve resisted doing both as a “career” throughout my 20s
and almost all throughout my 30s … to no avail, of course.
As the years have
passed, my love of people and life have come together with my ability
as a writer and speaker to the point of now finally feeling I have to
share myself and my life. I literally feel if I do not get out here and
talk and help people with all I’ve come to know, I may just as well lay
down and die. It's time.

now with the publishing of my book, my book tour, and my teleseminars
which will start in the last couple of months of 2010I must follow my
true north. This certitude has itself been confirmed and cemented this
past year with the illness and subsequent passing in April of my
fiance, Steven Dorber. There is clearly no turning back any more now.
It is time.
